About the Song:
In November 2006, the original poem and inspiration for the song "It'll Be Alright" was first written by "Scullee" and published on TMW's member discussion boards for a poetry contest. In 2008, while chatting with a long-time family friend about some of the emotions and experiences of military families, "Scullee" sent the poem along for him to read. Touched by the experience of military families as described by his friend and in the poem, Jared Fowler tweaked the lyrics and put the poem to music creating this poignant song revealing some of the real emotions and experiences of those who keep the home fires burning.
Lyrics
it'll be alright
seems like yesterday
when we finally got the word
even now, we hurry and wait
for what we heard
it won't be long now, but we have some time
to talk things through
before you go again,
i need one thing from you
(chorus)
know that i'll be here, still waiting dear
every day and every night
i'll keep on keeping on
i'll manage right along
everything will be alright
(it’ll be alright.. it’ll be alright… it’ll be alright…it’ll be alright)
today the news came in
it touched my heart like everyone…
we know before we hear
she's someone's love… he's someone's son (someone’s son)
she’s someone’s love… he’s someone’s son
(it’ll be alright… it’ll be alright… it’ll be alright)
(chorus)
know that i am here, still praying dear
fighting the good fight
i keep the fires burning for you
everyday and all the night through
i cry tears into my pillow,
watching the window
sleeping beside the phone
and soon - but not soon enough
we'll take all this love
we won’t be so alone
we won’t be so alone
(I miss you… I love you… I miss you…![]()
